I really love Greek Food! We cook a lot of Mediterranean-style dishes in our kitchen and somehow always get drawn towards Greek cuisine. These light and delicious dishes have plenty of fresh ingredients and a generous dousing of good quality olive oil.
Over the years, we have gone beyond gyros and moussaka and cooked great Greek flavors like Fasolakia, Kleftiko, and Pastit*io. There are so many great new dishes out there and that’s why I have compiled this list of amazing Greek Recipes for you to try.

I am starting this list of Greek Recipes with our own favorite Shrimp Saganaki, a classic Greek appetizer that’s served in most Greek Restaurants.
Some incredible flavor combo happens when you cook plump shrimp in a garlicky savory tomato sauce and finish it off with salty feta.

I love to cook these Greek-style kebabs for our get-togethers, as they are so easy. Chicken Souvlaki – sometimes, all you need is a few simple ingredients to create some amazing flavors. These Greek skewers are one of those recipes.

Fasolakia is by far my favorite when it comes to cooking green beans. Greek green beans, properly known as fasolakia, make a tasty dish out of fresh green beans braised in extra virgin olive oil, tomatoes, and herbs.

My favorite casserole from the Mediterranean region. Moussaka is to the Greeks what Lasagna is to Italians.
A rich tomato meat sauce layered with eggplant instead of pasta sheets, and topped with a thick layer of béchamel sauce, this traditional Greek recipe takes time to assemble – but it’s well worth the effort!

The 40 BEST Greek Recipes
This collection of amazing Greek Recipes will show you just why it's one of the most popular cuisines in the world! For an easy start, try this chicken souvlaki:
Ingredients
- 2lb chicken
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- juice of 1 large lemon
- 6 garlic cloves
- 1.5 Tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Cut the chicken into bite sized pieces and place in a ziploc bag. Mix all of the marinade ingredients together and pour it over the chicken. Squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible, then seal. Combine everything well by agitating the bag with your hands, then marinate in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours (or better yet, overnight).
- Skewer the chicken onto metal skewers, or wooden skewers that have been soaked in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Cook according to your preferred method:Grill Method:Preheat over medium high heat and grill skewers 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally.Oven Method:Preheat the oven to 450°F. Place the skewers on a baking sheet lined with a wire rack. Bake for 15 minutes, then broil for a couple more minutes.Stovetop Method:Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook skewers 6-8 minutes per side.
- After cooking, transfer to a serving platter and let rest for 3 minutes before serving.
